CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO FOSTER THE BRAZILIAN CULTURE IN THE NETHERLANDS
 
The Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Kingdom of the Netherlands announces that, until 19 October 2012, it will be accepting applications for financial support of the Ministry of External Relations to initiatives aimed at fostering the Brazilian culture in the Netherlands, in 2013, particularly in the fields of music, visual arts, performing arts and literature.

Àgua Carioca architecture Project

Ooze is undertaking a study of natural, self-regulating and small-scale water management in informal neighbourhoods in Rio de Janeiro.

Ooze wants to conduct a series of interviews with policy makers, urban designers, NGOs and residents. On the basis of the interviews, Ooze will make a design proposal for the neighbourhood of Maré that incorporates spatial, ecological and social aspects. The results of the study will be presented at the end of 2012 in the CAU (Centro de Arquitetura e Urbanismo) in Rio de Janeiro.

Unsolicited Architecture in Recife

Recife might be known for its close historical ties with Holland, but to others it is known as one of the fastest economical growing areas in Brazil. This means a huge building potential but also large-scale urban problems, such as: infrastructure-problems, problems with public space and vacant buildings.

João Filgueiras Lima

The course of one of the most known architects in Brazil, João Filgueiras Lima, kindly called as Lelé, is the theme of the exhibition “A arquitetura de Lelé: fábrica e invenção” (The architecture of Lelé: Factory and Invention) curated by Max Risselada e Giancarlo Latorraca.

Part of Lelé’s oevre is still present in cities, such as Fortaleza, Ribeirão Preto, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador.
