Indigenous from Brazil: Kayapó and Mehinaku

The indigenous population of Brasil have their own music. Whether music serves a ritual function or to relax, each tribe has its own traditions and its own sound. Two indigenous tribes, the Kayapó and the Mehinaku, will perform traditional rituals as part of the Brasil Festival Amsterdam. The music of the Kayapó, an indigenous tribe regarded as the best warriors of the Amazon forest, is almost exclusively vocal and the energetic dances reflect their strength and vitality.
